African Swine Fever update.
We would like to share an important update to make our customers aware of what is to come unfortunately with regards to prices of our proteins {meats} due to the African swine flu {ASF} outbreak and subsequent culling in Asia. This will also affect you grocery store prices.
Here is an update from one of our suppliers:
"As many of you are aware, the ASF impact has devastated the global supply of pork. Consequently, this lack of popular protein will inevitably impact beef and chicken as consumers are forced to switch proteins; simply predicated on supply. As protein supplies tighten; prices increase (basic supply and demand). We should prepare our customers for what’s to come. Over the coming months we will see increases in added value items that could be as high as 20% due to the increased input material costs. These price increases with inevitably be a point of contention as they coincide with the new minimum wage increases in BC. I encourage you to have preemptive conversations to prepare our customers for what is inevitably coming."
Evolution Camp Services camp division as well as our restaurant, The Pooley Street Cafe,
will still be offering many of these choices although we may have to look at raising our prices slightly on these items, and sourcing local suppliers, which we prefer, but can also increase prices.
If you have any questions, please feel free to message us, we are happy to provide more information.
